Britons advised to leave Niger Delta after wave of kidnappings |
| Home | (The Guardian) - The Foreign Office today advised all British nationals to leave the Niger Delta in Nigeria following a series of kidnappings of foreign oil workers. In its latest updated travel advice, the FO warns that the security situation in the area means it is unsafe for them to remain. The area is home to the bulk of Nigerian oil production and the Nigerian unit of Royal Dutch Shell, and 839 British nationals are currently registered as living there, the FO said. |
